CATEGORIES

The competition will include 4 categories:
  • Beginner

  • Intermediate

  • Advanced

  • Women

The rules for the Beginner, Intermediate, and Women categories are IDENTICAL, with the only difference being the skills allowed in the competition.

To understand which skills are permitted in each category, you can consult the SCORING TABLES, which list all the allowed skills.

Any SKILLS presented that are NOT INCLUDED in the table for that specific category will automatically be considered INVALID.

There is NO TABLE for the ADVANCED category. Evaluation for this category is based on different criteria, which are described in the final pages of this document.

Access to the Final

The access rules for the final phase are the SAME for ALL CATEGORIES.

At each stage, points will be awarded that will determine not only which athletes advance to the final, but also the ranking used for the battle matchups.

Points will be assigned as follows:

  • 100 points for 1st place

  • 70 points for 2nd place

  • 50 points for 3rd place

  • 30 points for 4th place

The TOP 8 ATHLETES with the highest scores in their category will ADVANCE TO THE FINAL PHASE.

If an athlete decides to change category from one stage of the championship to another, any points previously earned will be lost.

FINAL: 1ST/2ND PLACE & 3RD/4TH PLACE: 1vs1, 2 sets of 30 seconds per athlete

Each final match will consist of two consecutive sets per athlete. The 3rd/4th place match will be held first, followed by the 1st/2nd place final.

GENERAL PARAMETERS

REPETITIONS

It will be possible to perform the SAME SKILL as MANY TIMES AS DESIRED during the same set, without any kind of restriction or limit, except for cleanliness of execution.

It will NOT be allowed to repeat the SAME ISOMETRIC HOLD TWICE IN A ROW, unless performed with a different preparatory approach. Therefore, it will be necessary to alternate with another skill.

BLOCKS IN DYNAMICS

Each DYNAMIC SKILL must be performed STARTING FROM a NOTICEABLE BLOCK in isometry and ENDING WITH a NOTICEABLE BLOCK in isometry.

E.g. Planche Push-up: to earn full points, it is necessary to perform a block in Planche, execute the Push-up, and finish with a block in Planche.

In the case of PULLS and PRESS, only the CONCENTRIC phase of the movement will be considered.

E.g. Planche Press: to earn full points, it is necessary to perform a block in Planche, execute the Press, and finish with a block in Handstand.

ELEMENTS IN WHICH NO BLOCK IS REQUIRED:

  • OAP, OAC and Archer Pull-up
  • Muscle-up (N.B. in the SLOW Muscle-up, blocks are required for full points)
  • TED, TED Archer, TEMU and Russian Dip
  • Pullover, Reverse Pullover and Front Spin

START OF SET

At the beginning of the set, if an athlete presents a VERTICALITY element as their first skill, they may request that the TIME of the set STARTS from the moment the skill is SUCCESSFULLY BLOCKED.
The time begins from the first 1” block, not from the first valid isometry.

E.g. The athlete attempts to block a handstand as the first skill but falls without achieving the block — the timer is restarted.

E.g. The athlete attempts to block a handstand as the first skill and successfully holds for 1”, then falls — the timer is NOT restarted, but the athlete may still retry the skill.

In addition to this, it will be possible to request a BACKGROUND MUSIC of your choice.

END OF SET

If a SKILL is STARTED WITHIN the set time but COMPLETED AFTER the END, it will still be counted; this applies to both static and dynamic elements.

BONUS

ISOMETRY: +100% on the individual skill if an isometry is held for 5″

VARIATION: from +10% to +100% depending on how much the execution differs in difficulty from the standard version

ECCENTRIC-TO-ISOMETRY BONUS: +10% on the isometric skill, provided that the isometric element has a minimum value of 1pt.

E.g. From Handstand, the athlete performs a negative into Planche and successfully holds the isometry: the Planche score receives a 10% bonus.

CONCENTRIC-TO-ISOMETRY BONUS: +25% on the isometric skill, provided that the isometric element has a minimum value of 1pt.

E.g. A Front Lever Pull-up to Touch is performed, and the isometry is held for an additional 2” beyond the noticeable block in Touch required by the movement — the score for the Front Touch receives a 25% bonus.

COMPLETENESS: +20% on the entire set if at least 1 skill is performed in each category (push, pull, verticality, curl).

To earn the “COMPLETENESS” bonus, it is necessary to perform AT LEAST 1 VALID SKILL PER CATEGORY (Malus ≤ 50%).

E.g. A Handstand, Planche, Back Lever, and Front Lever are performed in the same set, but the Handstand is held for only 1.5”. The bonus is not awarded because one skill is invalidated.

CONTINUITY:

+20% on the entire set if it is performed entirely on high or low parallettes, or on a single low bar (parallettes height), without touching the ground.

+30% on the entire set if it is performed entirely on a high bar or rings, without touching the ground.

For the “CONTINUITY” bonus, every skill must be performed in a VALID manner.
The bonus will not be awarded if even one skill is invalidated, but it will be granted if some skills receive significant penalties, as long as they remain valid.

Example 1: Throughout the entire set, 10 skills are performed, with 1 penalized at 50%; the bonus is awarded.

Example 2: Throughout the entire set, 10 skills are performed, with 1 penalized at 100%; the bonus is not awarded.

CLEAN EXECUTION: +1.5 points awarded if the difference between the gross score and the net score of the set is less than or equal to 15%.

LAST SKILL: +50% on the final skill performed in the set, provided that the skill has a minimum value of 1pt and is executed WITHOUT any penalties.

MALUS

ISOMETRY:100% if the skill is held for less than 2″

LINE: from –10% to –100%

BENT ELBOWS:100%

BLOCK NOT EXECUTED:

  • 1 NOTICEABLE BLOCK ONLY:50% on the individual dynamic skill if only one noticeable block is performed (either before or after the dynamic movement).
  • BOUNCE (NO BLOCK): −100% on the individual dynamic skill if no block is executed at all.

OTHER ERRORS: from −10% to −100%

PENALTIES ARE CUMULATIVE, meaning that when multiple minor errors are present, they can collectively lead to the invalidation of the skill.

If the TOTAL PENALTY on a skill EXCEEDS 50%, the skill will be ANNULLED.

MAXIMUM CLEAN EXECUTION is required in all movements.

RULES OLYMPION SKILLS CUP
ADVANCED CATEGORY

STAGES

ELIMINATIONS: 1 set of 60″

During this phase, athletes will be assigned a SCORE FROM 0 TO 3 POINTS for each of the 5 parameters listed below, for a maximum total of 15 points. The top 8 athletes with the highest scores will advance to the next phase.

This phase will not be held only if there are exactly 8 athletes; if there are between 7 and 5, eliminations will take place with only the top 4 athletes advancing.

BATTLE

To win the SINGLE ELIMINATION battles, the athlete must secure AT LEAST 3 OF THE 5 POINTS assigned based on the parameters listed below. Each point is awarded to only one of the two competing athletes.

1st BATTLE: 1vs1, 1 set of 60” each

The 8 athletes will compete in 1vs1 format in the following order: 1st vs 5th, 2nd vs 6th, 3rd vs 7th, 4th vs 8th. The winners of each of the 4 rounds in each category will advance to the next phase.

2nd BATTLE: 1vs1, 1 set of 60” each

The 4 advancing athletes will compete in 1vs1 format.

FINAL 1st/2nd PLACE AND 3rd/4th PLACE: 1vs1, 2 sets of 45” each

The battles in this phase consist of 2 consecutive sets per athlete. First to compete will be the athletes for 3rd and 4th place, followed by those for 1st and 2nd place.

finale

It is reminded that only the 8 athletes who scored the most points during the championship stages will be eligible to register for the final phase of the championship.

2nd BATTLE: 1vs1, 1 set of 75” each

The 4 advancing athletes will compete in 1vs1 format.

FINAL 1st/2nd PLACE AND 3rd/4th PLACE: 1vs1, 2 sets of 45” each

The battles in this phase consist of 2 consecutive sets per athlete. First to compete will be the athletes for 3rd and 4th place, followed by those for 1st and 2nd place.

JUDGING PARAMETERS

The judgment will take place through the assignment of 5 PARAMETERS to the athletes.

EACH PARAMETER will be assigned TO ONLY ONE ATHLETE in the battle. The sum of the parameters will determine the winner.

In case of a TIE, the set will be repeated by both athletes, without the obligation to present the same elements.

The sets will be judged using the following parameters:

STATICS

In this parameter, only isometric holds maintained for 2” OR MORE will be taken into consideration; all isometric holds maintained for less time will not be considered.

ONLY skills performed in STRADDLE AND FULL will be judged.

The point will be awarded to the athlete who performs the most difficult isometric holds.

POWER MOVES

In this parameter, all dynamic movements are taken into consideration, such as Push up, Pull up, Press and others. It will be possible to perform the SAME SKILL AS MANY TIMES AS DESIRED during the same set, without any kind of constraint or limit.

The HOLD before or after a dynamic move is NOT MANDATORY, but it will be considered as a “plus” in the judgment.

ONLY skills performed in STRADDLE AND FULL will be judged.

The point will be awarded to the athlete who performs the most difficult dynamic moves.

COMPLETENESS

In this parameter, the completeness and variety of the elements performed by the athlete will be considered, including PULL, PUSH, and VERTICALITY.

E.g. Planche + Front Lever > Maltese (for this parameter)

E.g. Maltese + SAT < HS + Planche + Front Lever (for this parameter)

The point will be awarded to the athlete who presents a more complete range of elements.

CLEANLINESS

In this parameter, the precision and care with which the various dynamic and static skills are executed will be evaluated; in particular, the following will be considered: LINE, ELBOW EXTENSION, ACTIVATIONS.

The point will be awarded to the athlete who performs the cleanest elements.

CREATIVITY AND FLOW

In this parameter, all “scenic” VARIATIONS of dynamic and static skills that make the EXECUTION MORE COMPLEX will be taken into consideration, such as special grips, grip changes, transitions, speed changes, and the CONNECTIONS between skills and the fluidity of transitions and movements.

Any FREESTYLE elements, including entries and exits, will greatly increase the chances of earning this point, while APPARATUS CHANGES, RESTING on the equipment, and especially unintentional FALLS will decrease it.

The point will be awarded to the athlete who performs more complex freestyle elements or more unique variations of static and dynamic skills, and who presents the set with fewer pauses/falls and fewer equipment changes.
